Overstock.com Improves Customer Response in Trial of Goodmail Systems' Certified Email
Mountain View, CA; August 9, 2006 - Goodmail Systems today announced that its client Overstock.com® experienced a 19% increase in email click-through rates as well as an increase in per-email sales in a test marketing campaign using Goodmail Systems' CertifiedEmail, as compared to a control group of non-CertifiedEmail messages. Overstock.com sent a test population of customers promotional marketing offers with images of merchandise and links to the Overstock.com website; customers were able to click on desired merchandise, go to the website, and buy products.

CertifiedEmail is Goodmail's service for restoring trust to email communications among volume email senders and their consumer recipients. Accredited senders with the best email practices can choose to send their marketing and transactional messages via CertifiedEmail, which imprints a cryptographically-secure token on outgoing email messages and lets participating ISPs and mailbox providers like AOL and Yahoo! assure delivery of those messages to the server-level inbox. Many ISPs today routinely disable links and images as a security precaution against phishing and other forms of email-based fraud. Over the course of one month, Overstock.com maintained a persistent control group throughout five distinct email marketing campaigns to a customer list split evenly between those receiving CertifiedEmail messages and those receiving non-certified email messages. Across the five campaigns, CertifiedEmail message recipients showed higher email metrics as compared to the non-CertifiedEmail recipients.
